When it concerns any delays pertaining to the release of his upcoming project, Pilot Talk 3, New Orleans, Louisiana rapper Curren$y has opted for the “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” approach. While speaking with HotNewHipHop.com, the wordsmith shared the details of what was behind Pilot Talk 3 being pushed back from its initial 2014 release.
According to the Pilot Talk architect, Pilot Talk 3 “would have been a completely different animal” if it was released in November of last year. Additionally, he says the cover art for the project would not have been ready.
"I needed to wait to catch up with David Barnett, who did all the art on Pilot Talk 1 and 2," he says. "It wouldn’t have been right, man. You know what I’m saying? Just to put it out in November when I said I would have did it, it would have been a completely different animal. And everybody who listened to Pilot Talk 1 and 2 might have been a little—they’d have dug it, but they would have been a little surprised at what happened, so I kinda wanted to keep it more the same. If it’s not broke, [don’t fix it].”
While rattling down the list of Pilot Talk 3 features, which currently includes Jadakiss and Styles P, Curren$y also praised RiFF RaFF regarding his lyrical contributions to the album.
"He killed it," Curren$y says. "RiFF RaFF is a lyrical dynamo. And people gotta give it up, man. The man could do a lot. The man said—look, I don't wanna give away no bars off the records that we did, but I'mma just tell you, Google ‘Ralph Sampson.’ Remember that? That man said ‘Ballin' like Ralph Sampson.’ You could’ve said 'Ballin like Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan.' Anybody that you would think when you think ballin', basketball, something. My man said Ralph Sampson…Ski Beatz did a wealth of the production. Cool & Dre definitely helped out a great deal.”
Pilot Talk 3 is currently scheduled for release April 4.
