Na, jews and terrible label exec managers, PRs and cacs killed NY hip hop.

It was becoming too empowering for black folk so they had to dumb it down by pivoting from managing the drug dealers and pimps rapping....

And bring to it the level of drug addicts, coọns, sell outs, culture vultures and prostitutes who they can more easily control, manipulate and advertise to a younger generation.

Hence, the south is thriving.

i dont want to make this a "jew" thing but everything else is correct

commercialization killed ny hip hop, race to the bottom for a dollar.

Ridiculous and short sighted to blame him when he created a true mixtape blueprint for others to follow.

If there’s going to be blame then look no further than folks like Ebro, Flex, their roles in label backed payola, manipulating (and lessening the impacted of) DJs, lack of innovation in NY, the “decentralized” influence of NY as a trendsetter — and some seriously trash ringtone music.

50 is one person and while he had a run, he had at least 3 bosses (Dre, Em, Jimmy) who didn’t just allow anything. At the same time he was an Interscope breadwinner and literally subsidized the 90% of other artists on the label who were never going to sell a damn thing.

New York sat idle while the shiny suit era was followed by violence (BIG) and then didn’t have enough of a solid lineup entering the 2000s. Jay Z had his spark but what about under performers like Fabolous, stage fright cats like Mase and self control deniers like Big Pun and pump fakers like Canibus who ALL had lackluster careers despite big pushes.

DMX more than held his own but he was his own worse enemy and “legacy” acts from the 90s (Wu, Busta, Red, Meth) would start a slow fade that meant they would see similar successes in the early/mid 2000s

Meanwhile you have someone like Doom who found his lane and probably has a better discography than most rappers — but you had to really be a fan. Just like you really had to be fan of Mos Def (who himself was/is inconsistent).

NY fell asleep at the wheel at the wrong damn time right as the industry was on the brink of a regional (and technological) shift.

He was also a fake 2pac clone.
Shirtless, tattoos, endless beef.

50 saw what beef and diss tracks did for 2Pacs career and he brought that same mess to NY.

People's love for drama is why NY exchanged all the amazing talent they had for 50 cent..now they're stuck with 50 and all the rapper’s are gone.
That’s part of it yeah …..but we can’t deny how big 50 was in general him , pacs run (when he got out of prison until he died ) and lil Wayne are 3 of the arguably biggest moments or runs in hiphop …did 50’cause some internal friction yeah 100 % ….

The whole "King of NY" thing was around before 50. Notably Jay vs Nas was about that in many ways. In a lot of ways, the culture of the city just doesn't promote sustainability like that: everyone for themselves, the rat race etc.

In Atlanta, for example, established artists put on new kids, and old timers work with both who's hot and coming up. A lot more support across the board (sure there are beefs but that's human nature). Whereas in NY, anyone coming up was seen as a threat to whoever was on top.

50 mastered the art form, but that culture and mentality was there before he dropped "How to Rob".

But the quality of the south's reign is so abysmally poor, that they can never talk about the QUALITY of music or the REPLAYABILITY of it. They let producers have too much power and made careers off of untalented, selfish, ungrateful MFs that can't write a quality bar to save their lives.

You a Flawda boy like me so you already know... Fif is the only dude from NY on the early/mid 2000s i seen that got real play down here cause we were not fukking with Jim Jones and Cam with that Dipset/LOX shyt down here :skip:
The fact you said Dipset/Lox as if they were the same era is hilarious.

Of course 50 got play down there. He made raps to be played in the club. That shyt wasnt birthed from it going viral on the NY streets and then the masses.

All that shyt was basic

Negro.... Lox/D Block/Jadakiss or whoever the fukk they morphed into got no play down here and were definitely around in late 90s early 2000s which is precisely when we stopped listening to those boring ass ducktales yall started putting out. Dipset were right behind them...

Shout out to Jada though a true lyricist.

And 50 had club hits but nahh dudes down here really fukked with him cause he was authentic play Many Men down south and see if mf'ers don't start bopping their heads but I guess thats was a basic club hit as well :troll:

Well, we certainly know listeners werent interested in bars.

Also, forgot how to make songs. A lot the new rappers bars were starting to be the same as well. It’s a big lie that New York rappers all had bars. A lot that shyt was straight trash. A lot of their songs were unlistenable.

I felt like Gucci when he talked about riding to Eminem. These new New Yorkers making music is straight trash.

What was the music birthed out there was getting play? What FL music was coming out then thats worth being nostalgic about?what classics are you speaking on FL hip hop was churning out that made one forget about the NY? The Lox weren’t exactly kings of NY in the late 90s either. :manny:

Either way, dipset and the lox, like I said, were two completely different eras. One group was forged by the love from the streets here and Dipset through social media.

NY quality rap died with the Tunnel by 2000 when the closures began. When Jay last great album was Blueprint and Prodigy came out with HNIC. All the popular shyt that came out after that was meh or outright trash.

Yeah, once they started going in that era of simile raps it got very bad. Every bar with “like “ in it. The beats got very corny and the drug dealing murder tales was just very bad. The era where bar was about cooking was trash too.
