He was and more versatile too.
i) Draymond had more defensive impact all throughout the season - man-to-man and as a help defender
ii) Kawhi is not more versatile. Not even close. Draymond not only defends positions 1-5, he can shut them down too.
If i had to get one stop Kawhi would be my number 1 choice. Unlike draymond he can actually play defense without hacking and all that other silly shyt he pulls.
The Spurs got away with more defensive contact than any other team this season (yes, that includes Kawhi). Great defensive players tend to get away with more contact because they develop a rep and know how and when to push the boundaries. If you're wanting to get one stop, Draymond is your man: elite rim protector, elite post defender, elite spot up defender, elite ISO/man-to-man defender, elite transition defender and elite help defender. Basically he's elite in nearly every space of the floor.
