his argument from a high achieving black perspective is no different than the white argument for not wanting their kids having to go to school with black kids. he says that dunbar was good when it was accepting good negroes, but when it was forced to accept kids from the neighborhood who weren't good negroes, they just ruined it. just like they ruin everything huh? if you want separate schools for high achieving black kids so they don't have to interact with the black riff raff just say so. don't use desegregation as a crutch.

:patrice: Thats a fukked up way of looking at it...He is saying that FORCED desegregation and the egalitarian objective of trying to obtain equal outcomes has created mass mediocrity..

Instead of having a variety of some excellent public schools, some average schools and some sub par ones....... we now have zero excellent public schools ,a few average and a huge number of below average schools

:skip: I guess thats what they call progress

Uh, I think there is a big distinction in applying academic and behavioral standards vs thinking that one group is genetically different on a intellectual and behavioral level, thus, they must never be made to mix with us. One of those ideas, if accepted, could be used to produce a whole host of catastrophic outcomes that the other couldn't.

desegregation of public schools definitely works, and it was shown to be working until white people took their kids out of school or created white enclaves.

its not a magic bullet, but there is a reason why segregation failed as a whole.

What you guys are failing to get is this is not a critique of any racial issue rather its the forced standardization of outcomes

Its like running track relay..some kids will be way out in front the majority in the middle and the slow ones in the rear...Having school coaches that pick individual runners for themselves WILL create inequality

Youll have some relay teams that are excellent and doing Olympic track numbers ,most will be average and a few will be slow....

but if you mandate the coaches to blindly choose only the runners near them you wont end up with excellent teams or even average ones...youll end up with a whole lot of lousy ones

What the Govt should have done rather than fight for equality of results was fight for equality of access..making sure that if a poor kid wanted to go to a good school he had the ability to do so ..Busing,Tuition assistance,Uniforms and so on

:sas1: But thats just my opinion.

except we have plenty of excellent public schools. as you would expect, they are usually located in areas with high household incomes
