I would like to say the knicks passed on dsj. based on trying to draft the right culture based pick or individual.
So the knicks went with the safe euro style black athlete in a port city to illustrate this direction in culture.
Dsj had issues in college and his draft stock fell completely.

On paper he is interesting but being a euro. Always raises questions about ferocity or lack of in the domestic game as far as a euro player making it in the NBA is concerned.

Tony parker maybe the only euro who never had issues with ferocity.
as he put the glove out to pasture immediately in the post season.
I would have to think about what euro overcame the ferocity or lack of ferocity as far as being a professional domestic north american player.
Kobe kinda qualifies, kinda does not for this tho.
so, outside of Kobe i will have to think about this.

And I agree. I think Knicks past problems with star guards like Marbury, Nate and Francis kinda ruined Dennis chances. Id say the knicks wanted a different guard than the type NYC fans would be accustomed to or even they would want in the City, which in this case is an african american, from the "hood" with an explosive, flash, more exciting game.
Knicks just wanted to go completely left and maybe take a safer, although boring pick. Same thing they did with Kristaps. That worked out well, lets see about Frank tonight. Im rooting for him.

. He had 20+ & 10 and just looks to have that it factor and killer mentality which is rare these days with a rookie.
