From what I've seen from Petty it ain't happening. Hackenburg can learn from Romo and take over in 2018. I think y'all are in need of a good season or y'all gonna blow it up. We'll see what happens though.

I'll pass on Romo. He will get injured here almost guaranteed.

This is where Fitz and I agree and I break away from Prodigal.

He refuses to address our lack of talent, opting to always bash BOWELS. :mjlol:

Mauldin sucking hurt the entire defense.

Jenkins though looks like a player.
Again, there was not 1 word about a supposed lack of talent coming into the season

If it's so obvious that we don't have talent then why did not 1 single one of you pushing that narrative have a word to say about it before the season?

When the season started their was 2 groups of people in this thread

One group of people that thought Fitz could get the job done and take us to the playoffs.

The other Group that said Fitz was holding the team back and would be the catalyst for us not making the playoffs.

Most of the talk by that second group, especially you,was that geno has never played with this much talent and needs to be the starting qb.

Now all of a sudden we have no talent but none of you,not 1 of you, could see this before the season.

So either you guys have 0 football acumen and can't spot something so apparently obvious or you're wrong now.

Further more, bad coaching can hide talent and make good talent look like shyt.

How many times can we see players implode, call shyt out in the media, have the team totally unprepared, make downright bizarre and nonsensical in game decisions before you guys admit that coaching is the #1 problem on this team.

The 49ers were a perpetually underachieving team that looked awful year after year until a good coach came in and magically transformed that same team into an contenders and as soon as he left they were garbage again.

A good coach can make even mediocre talent look good

A bad coach can make good talent look bad and feel hopeless

Todd Bowles is a bad coach.

I'm not going to get into arguments about talent with you guys when we 1) have a bad coach so it's impossible to truly determine our talent level and 2) you guys change your stance like a fart in the wind.

It's obvious last year was a fluke.

Until you can explain why none of you had any complaints about a supposed lack of talent coming into the season I'm not going to take you seriously.

Lastly, the amount of injuries we have had is insane. That's just bad luck. Kind if hard to evaluate a team when they're all injured.

I was complaining about Maccagnan's spending before 2015. Everything fell apart already. No cap room, not a lot of picks, poor talent. This team is built through FA which has a short shelf life. Got blessed with an easy schedule last year and competent QB play. The entire secondary needs to be replaced, there's no pass rusher and obviously no QB.

I was the very first person complaining about macc and his spending in the season threads back when you were still riding the Fitz wave.

I'm not sold on him as a gm.

The silver lining here is that it did in fact turn into a rebuild. Its just the young guys arent very good.

And this is where we disagree.

I don't think we can make definitive claims on draft picks this early

Firing a gm this soon just means the next gm is just going to cut maccs picks for some cheap heat from fans without giving then a real chance and thus creating holes and gaps in the roster.

Macc needs to be given at least 4 seasons regardless. If we fired macc we would have fired 3 gms in 4 years. That is a total fukking disaster.

We need to at least ATTEMPT to have stability and grow talent. If it doesn't work fine, move on. But he needs at least 4 seasons AND to pick his own coach.

The drafts are the drafts. There's no genius GM that's gonna hit on every pick...more or less everyone gets the same list of 300players or so. My worries with Maccagnan are more in line with contracts and player value. He comes off as an amateur. He's free agency signings have basically all blown up in his face and he botched the Mo situation...especially considering he still went ahead and picked Leo.

I agree.

Him winning that award was a joke.

All he did was hand out contracts like a kid in a candy store. Very Tanny esque.

It looks like both will probably be back.

It feels like we are just going to be back to where we started with idzik with having bloated contacts and having to cut a whole bunch of vets and creating holes everywhere. But instead of idzik being the one forced into that position macc did it to himself

Get the sense Maccagnan grades guys swim moves on a scale of 1-10 rather than taking the better athlete.

I agree with prodigal. Nobody was talking about lack of talent, main discussion was Fitz vs Geno. Me and others said give Geno a chance, while others wanted Fitz to start, but anybody who really knows football seen this coming with Fitz. He had a good year last year and he still held the offense back from what it could of been.

It's end of the season, so people flip flopping, talking lack of talent, when it's almost the same team from last year. Injuries hasn't help, but the main reason for this downfall is gm not getting a #2 corner and no youth at offensive line. Todd Bowles and not handling the quarterback decision the right way. And Fitz alienating the locker room

Bowles is head over heels right now far as coaching goes, but that's not to say he can't get better. He needs to be the head coach, so hire a real defensive coordinator and fire Chan gailey. Gailey is good but time has passed him by. Forte over Powell, no use of tight ends, and bad when it comes to adjustments.

I say keep Bowles and Mac another year at least, as much as I think Bowles sucked. Gotta let the guy develop and make mistakes. U can't hire a first time coach and expect him not to lay a few eggs. If u want perfection, hire an experienced guy with a great track record like Parcells had.
