Former Miss Bolivia arrested following allegations of arms trafficking

A former Miss Bolivia has been seized by police accused of arms trafficking.
Suspect Alondra Mercado Campos, better known to social media followers as Alondra MC, 22, was Miss Bolivia Mundo 2020 and Miss Charm Bolivia 2023.
She regularly treats more than 40,000 Instagram followers to revealing bikini snaps from the beach or wearing figure-hugging evening gowns at VIP events.
But now she is being held at the country's tough Trinidad Women's Prison in Beni, northeast Bolivia, charged with arms trafficking.
Local media reports that police found significant quantities of guns and AK-47 assault rifle ammunition at her home.
Campos will be held for 30 days in pre-trial detention until her first court appearance, according to local media.
Forensic tests on her car may also provide evidence for drug charges, say prosecutors.
She reportedly chose to stay silent when she was put before a judge during a court appearance, in which prosecutors asked to hold her in prison.
Her partner, named locally as Andrés Vásquez, is currently on the run and wanted for questioning on drug trafficking.
Beni Department's deputy prosecutor Geraldo Balderas said: 'The boyfriend is being investigated for trafficking in controlled substances and is a fugitive.'
Balderas said that videos found on a mobile phone seized from Campos show her and her partner at a number of parties with the illegal weapons seized by police.
The investigation is ongoing.
