He isn't really planning anything of significance right now (At least, that the tv show is letting on to). He WAS planning to marry Sansa and gain the North but that's dead now.

The scene and monologue was great. The entire show is about power and how people gain it and what they do when they have it. Littlefinger basically gave his opinion on it. He's a fukking climber, the realm be damned.

yeah, ever since Little Finger lost to Ned he's future was bleak and he basically had to climb and strategize his position and now he's a Lord, which should give him a lot of control.
