Yea i think Joffery wanting to do something about Dany actually made him look somewhat responsible. Dany is coming whether they like it or not and honestly it looks like the Lannisters are truly winning at this point in the story. You would think Tywin would at least turn his attention to Dany just a little. I think the Lannisters arrogance will be their downfall.

Without taking care of the immediate threat of open rebellion on multiple fronts on the homefront, what contingency plan could even be staged against danarys half way across the world?...Tywin is already trying to orchestrate all kinds of elaborate alliances just to have the manpower to quell Rob and Stannis and unite the realm...it ain't like he can just send 20,000 troops all the way the essos to take on Dany, her 8k unsullied, the remaining portion of the khalasar, and her 3 teenaged dragons...winning the war and uniting Westeros is the best defense against a Tagaryan invasion
The Lannisters would hold on to that throne if everything was mundane in their world. They're rich, powerful, and ruthless. They have a major blind spot though. While they think its nothing but armies and alliances they have to deal with, we as the audience know its supernatural shyt going on like zombies, dragons, and fire gods. they wont have any answers to that otherworld shyt once powers finally converge.
She has a right to be arrogant tho . Her family lost everything and she climbing back up that latter as the only Targ. She is the rightful ruler of of the 7 kingdoms and she has 3 dragons. You brush it completely in front of Joffrey because he's a still a lil ass boy mentally and you don't want him shook with the idea of dragons will be on his front yard any moment now and run the risk of him trying to interject himself into the actual dealings of things anymore than he is already...who knows what they're ACTUALLY doing about it, though the time for "send an assassin or two over there to kill her" has passed after the first attempt failed...Dany has a legitimate army now and likely can't be defeated without some kind of serious military attack...a type of attack they're in absolutely no position to mount given the current, immediate circumstances
