word up i hate that every season is 10 episodes. thats straight bs. if they would have at least shown barristan slaying those gold cloaks in the first season, he wouldve been more memorable to people who havent read the books. im sure a huge percentage of viewers have not read the books and they need to account for that.
i have no doubt this season will be awesome, but lets be real... that shyt was boring.
Selmy wasn't even that big a character on the show. i guarantee 75% of the viewing/non reading audience were like "the fukk is that guy?" That was a lame cliff hanger for the premiere episode. You gotta read the book for all that backstory.

yea and there is SO much backstory to selmy in the books too. its a shame but hopefully he becomes a huge character this season.
selmy was lord commander of the kingsguard during king robert's reign, he saved king aerys the mad one time when he was kidnapped, he killed the smiling knight who was a psycho leader of a legendary rebel group, he entered a tournament as a mystery knight at 10 YEARS OLD!, he won mad tournaments and unhorsed other legends of westeros like king robert himself, rhaegar, and others.
the man is michael jordan of westeros knights. washington wizards michael jordan at his age but still MJ. in the show tho he is barely known to people who havent read the books.
