Billick speaking the truth.

Former NFL head coach and analyst Brian Billick was blunt in his assessment of the Falcons’ defense on the Morning Show on 92.9 The Game with Marc James and Randy Cross on Wednesday morning.

It was pointed out that the Falcons have given up 472, 472 and 558 yards on defense in three of their first four games this season.

Billick, who is Falcons head coach Mike Smith’s brother-in-law and gave him his break in the NFL in 1999, quickly pointed to the talent on the defense.

He said that defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, who coached with him in Baltimore from 2001-04, has been working with “smoke and mirrors” for quite some time and that he was out of “mirrors.”

He said he liked cornerbacks Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford. He noted that safety William Moore and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon were talented, but hurt.

“I can’t think of another team in the league that has less quantifiable talent on it defensively,” Billick said.

He then joked that the Falcons were going to bring Cross, a former star with the 49ers, down and get 10 to 15 snaps out of him.

The Billick comments are harsh but true. Nolan actually deserves an extension for the shyt he's put up with...what is he working with on a weekly basis is WOAT level. Dimitroff & Smitty deserve the blame for this defensive mess

I tell everybody, pick up whoever the Falcons are playing. The ONE week we came to play, I had Josh McCown as my flex QB in one of my league. My uncle called me like "Ya boys winning, but McCown playing terrible"
