Brehs, let me give you a clue as to how average every one of our defensive players are. I didn't in the least notice a change in the fact Willy mo wasn't playing. The announcing booth was making mention of all the offensive line starters out and I didn't even notice. I actually feel in the first half the line did pretty decent. It is a sad state of affairs that I didn't even notice anything different.
like " awww dang we could have used willy mo out there today" no, the same junk wouldhave happened.
Who on the Defense actually starts for say a defense like Seattle's?
That's the thing. Our defense has absolutely zero to no talent on it. Is it the coaches that are at fault for our defense being as shytty as they are right now? Perhaps it's Thomas Dimitroff and his front office? The answer's both, breh's. Nolan has been preaching since he's gotten here that he wants to play a 3-4 defense, and this offseason (while we can consider it a "transition" this year), his requests were answered and we went out and signed Soliai and T. Jackson while drafting players such as Hageman. Those are all 3-4 type players. Now that Nolan has SOME type of personnel to run that type of defense, what have we gotten? Nothing. No improvement. Not even a sliver of signs that we could dominate an offense other than the Buccaneers.
The problem with blaming our coaching staff is that we can't blame them without putting some blame on Dimitroff, Pioli, etc. Year in and year out, TD & Crew have failed to put out a respectable defense. I've been tired of this same old "bend but don't break, let's rely on our offense to keep us in the games" type of strategy. When you draft players such as Rashede Hageman in the second round and he sees less than 50% of the snaps on defense, you've gone wrong. When you waste a third round pick on a special teams player in Dez Southward, you've gone wrong. Second AND third round draft picks should be at or almost ready to see the majority of snaps. Hageman, so far, has looked tired, unmotivated, and simply what he was in HBO Hard Knocks -- a softy -- so far in the season. Southward didn't have the best training camp and offseason due to his injuries, but that still goes against TD and his crew.
This makes me wish we had just traded our second and third round picks (Hageman, Southward) in the first round and swapped picks with anyone in the Top 5 to acquire either JaDeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack, and we could have drafted a project prospect offensive tackle in Seantrel Henderson from Miami.
I'm just tired of being mediocre as fukk, breh's. It's fun to watch a high scoring NFL team and all, but what's even funner is to watch your team win... Regardless of how they did it.
