I think it depended on the school district. In Florida they had regular price, reduced, or free lunch. The last two were programs parents were able to sign up for.

Yeah our middle school lunch was like 2.50, but if you had low income, you would get lunch tickets. I remember getting shytted on so badly because of "getting freebiesssss" "you got the freebie tickets!!!"

It depends on the district for free lunch. The elementary school I used to teach at for the past 5 years had free lunch. Now I'm at an affluent school and it's either full or reduced based on income.
