People think that they understand black people because they listen to rap, watch/play basketball, watch black actress and actors on tv, and dress urban. They have a hard time understanding that the majority of black people in America aren't ball players and rapper, but they have no problem thinking that when it comes to whites, asians, and hispanics.

I trace it back to that point as well. There were zero fukks given about African Americans in that regard until that California decision. After the gays political agenda & aspirations were temparaily squelched they...
1st identify the black community as anti-gay in news and academia
2nd begin a push to persuade us to their cause(this is when the whole sympathy seeking comparison of gays to the black struggle started ...which upset a lot of people)
I call bullshyt because if anyone goes back to that prop 8 case it was white Christians who went into the black community riling everyone up. Black folks ain't sitting around watching what laws are being enacted(if that was the case we would have caught all the "stand your ground" laws being passed) This is also why I call bullshyt on the whole Uganda thing. Those people have more things going on then to worry about chasing down gays. It's those white christens again riling the local populous up.
To put it simply, white people are having a "culture war" and we get caught up in all their bullshyt. Why? Because white people (as a collective) can't just say "hey this is what i'm doing over here. you do you overthere". It's actually deeper then that but I don't want to go that deep into why white people do what they do

This chick Im dating is heavily involved in her church and she kept talking about her "church homeboys" which raised some eyebrows on my part. She had a get together at her house and had me come.
