How much of a lack of professionalism do you tolerate for shopping at Black businesses?

I'll tolerate if it's some good ass food that I got a strong craving for. We all know brehs struggle in the customer service dept at some of the best food establishments

But I tolerate zero lack of professionalism for ALL things concerning my health. Medical, dental, vision, whatever

Black and white look optical near Eastland (r.i.p.)
I knew it. I went there for a diabetic eye exam and got the run around. I never went back.:pachaha:

Supporting Black businesses does matter, but that doesn't mean accepting bad service. This expectation applies across the board. Expecting good service isn't anti-Black, it's just normal. If a place doesn't deliver, you shouldn't feel guilt for going somewhere else.

Told me it was the wrong axiom. That's why my prescription was off. Their explanation it happens sometimes. And this is the old fashion eye thing I looked through

Long story short. I decided to go to a Black Eyewear place to get some glasses. And the place was not what I expected. It smelled, the walls were not painted, the receptionist was "stern". The eye exam was not modern at all. Like old school eyeglasses chart.

Got the glasses and instantly I knew something wrong. My eyes were heavy and I knew it was the wrong prescription. The doctor said "Try it for a couple days and if its a problem, call back up here." Well, nothing changed.

Talked to the receptionist and she's saying it's my diabetes. Mind you, I never experienced any symptoms for my diabetes and my blood sugar is normal. Not insulin just metaforin. I explained that I never had any problems before these but she kept insisting it was my diabetes. But finally I got an appointment.

So my question is, what is your limit when it comes to Black businesses and professionalism? If you dont care about "shopping Black" then ignore this thread. Like I can ignore some stuff to support Black. But I have limits.
My tolerance for unprofessionalism isn’t specific to just my people

people always bring up how Jews and Asians work together...
the part they leave out is they have standards with their businesses and business relationships.

If one of them is doing bad business they get ran out like everybody else.

Yup. I was reading a book about “affinity fraud.” It’s an ultimate sin to betray the trust of your community. That’s why Bernie Madoff was made an example of. He betrayed his people to make millions and that level of deception will get you ostracized, at worst, murdered.

It’s one thing to exploit other groups but if they do it to their own, the penalty is severe. Sadly, we accept scammers in our communities, if not revere them. :francis:

Never enable bad business. That is how you build stronger communities.

Side note I was helping my friend cater at a party and it was two black men that tried to scam him for food. The worse part was they had braids, and was wearing Afro centric clothing.

I say that to say this, sometime black people are bad customers to black businesses. Don’t get me wrong I don’t trust white people, but sometimes that shytty behavior by a black businesses is because they ran into suckers who are black trying to scam them because they are a black business.

Mannnnnnn!!!

I own 2 businesses and customer service is so important. It what really sets you apart. Pick up the phone, answer questions, be pleasant, respond in a timely fashion.

We were looking for landscaping services for one of our businesses. Called a breh I know who does landscaping, told dude come give me a quote for service. He comes by takes a look and couldn’t take the time to email over a quote, I gave him 3 weeks!!! Latino dude I called came right away and had an emailed quote in my hand within an hour.

Black businesses are looked at as a side hustle by a lot of us.

We lack funding and support but that’s no reason to give shyt service.

Some customers are straight up exhausting. Obviously this goes well beyond black business...but in the all black contexts I frequently find myself in - it be 1 out of 100 that causes problems for the other 99. They have to be catered to...or we all gotta suffer.

The big thing is that it's hard to establish an unspoken level of customer behavior and customer service.

You had trouble getting your Roy Bahns adjusted at the mall kiosk and now pontificating on the black business archetype :wow:
