if the godfather 1 and 2 didn't exist, i'd say apocalypse now is the greatest film of all time

I'm freaking love war movies but I just never got into it like everyone else. It has a classic scene and some quotable lines, super cool seeing a young ass Lawrence Fishborne but it's not even a top 5 war film for me.

I dont even look at AN as a war film even though it technically is. So many levels to the movie and the journey down that river. shyt is an undeniable masterpiece in my book. Even the documentary was dope.

I'm going to co-sign the first reply. This is one of those movies that is acclaimed and I liked it the one time I watched it. That is it. I tried to watch it a second time and I couldn't sit through the whole thing before turning it off out of boredom. As far as war films from the 70s and 80s, I can watch Platoon and FMJ multiple times though.

It's always been a hard watch for me. Drags a lot. A very good film but the pacing and overall plot seems to lose me. I respect it's place however.
