There's only two ways you can limit player movement :

- implementing a franchise tag concept
- abolishing free agency altogether

The players won't ever agree to either.
I agree. Players will never agree to something like this. I just wanted to see if he would come up with anything.

Neither of those things have anything to do with player movement. How are they going to limit player movement in the next CBA?

:dahell:

Both of those were implemented to stop player movement

Players don’t have leverage

The owners have to worry about luxury tax, not the players. The supermax was supposed to help these small market teams keep their best players. How'd that work out?
If players have no leverage then how did Anthony Davis, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, DeMarcus Cousins, etc all wind up getting traded? Players aren't agreeing to anything that's gonna limit their ability to change teams.

Now stop avoiding the question I'm asking. How are they going to limit player movement in the next CBA?

They have no leverage in the CBA negations

Luxury tax was so building a superteam would be really expensive to the point you didn’t it wasn’t worth it

Supermax was to get you to stay with the team that drafted you

None of it worked to their desire but it doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to keep trying

Your making my point for me. It didn't work. If a player wants out, they're gonna find a way. Nothing is going to change that.

What exactly is the problem with player movement? Why should players be stuck in bad situations or in situations that they do not want to be in? You stop player movement by being competent and respectful. Orgs move on from players when they aren't cutting it. Nothing wrong players doing the same. It actually makes the league more competitive and interesting because you never know where the next great team is going to bubble up from and quality players can go join other quality players rather than rotting in shytty situations while the one or two teams run shyt unchallenged.
