Listening to the Lowe Post podcast with Zach Lowe and Jon Givony:
  • There's some Kevin Love to NO buzz
  • International NBA scouts aren't in love with the Luka Samanic to Spurs pick
  • Bol Bol's lack of strength, weight loss and medical diagnosis scared teams off. Denver had Bol Bol top 10 on their board yesterday, but most teams do not have the patience to develop someone like Bol Bol.
  • Givony is confused why teams fight over 2nd rounders, don't draft talented guys and instead draft guys that they could've signed undrafted to two-way deals. Now you have a lot of talented underclassmen who are undrafted.
  • A lot of curiosity about the Hawks next year. Atlanta is a sleeping giant as a market, players love Atlanta. Lots of interesting young players. Half of their roster is on rookie contracts. They will have lots of money to spend next year.
  • There's a lot of interest in DeWayne Dedmon as a MLE target this summer. Khem Birch too. Will be harder to sign Khem Birch since he's a RFA.
  • Suns erased 70% of the cap space they cleared in the TJ Warren cap space for Aron Baynes, Dario Saric, 2020 Bucks 1st rounder, Ty Jerome and Cam Johnson. Suns still have to pay Kelly Oubre Jr. They only have $15 mil to spend now. They won't be able to sign D'Angelo Russell, who they coveted.
  • Givony says quite a few teams had Cam Johnson medically red-flagged. Could've dropped to the 2nd round.
  • Josh Jackson is scaring off teams and teams are hoarding cap space now. Maybe if teams strike out on free agents this summer, they'll take on Jackson's cap number (2 years, $8-9 mil left) from the Suns.
  • Nets are close to getting two max slots, need to shed a salary. But there's a debate between keeping D'Angelo Russell and getting Kyrie Irving this summer internally.
  • Bulls are still going to target a veteran PG after drafting Coby White. Lots of people are sold on Coby White. Givony is not a fan of Coby White.

I thought Love was headed to NOLA for the 4th pick. Wonder what they'll offer for him now.

What in the fukk were the Suns even doing yesterday? :dahell:

They straight up sold Warren for cash & somehow gave up a pick that the Pacers traded for 3 other picks & then just kept doing goofy shyt the whole day.

Woj: Nets may not want Kyrie Irving as 'solo act' without another star player

Kyrie Irving is reportedly on his way to the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent. But according to top NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, that's not unless he brings another superstar with him.

Wojnarowski said Tuesday on ESPN that the Nets are mainly interested in pairing Irving with Kevin Durant as max-deal free-agent signings. Durant's Achilles injury in the NBA Finals has severely complicated his status for the next couple of seasons and beyond. So Woj is wondering whether Brooklyn would still go the Irving route if it means they make him the centerpiece of the team without Durant.

“What Brooklyn would like to have is not just Kyrie Irving, but a second star come in with him, and obviously Kevin Durant is that player,” Wojnarowski said (via NESN's Logan Mullen). “If they don’t get a second star, it will be interesting to see if Brooklyn wants to have Kyrie Irving as a solo act. That didn’t go so great in Boston last year.

"So we’ll see if Brooklyn is still following through on just Kyrie Irving, because if they don’t take Kyrie Irving they can just bring back D’Angelo Russell at a lower number, younger player. But the focus with the Nets: get two stars, and to try to get Kyrie Irving to go out and try to recruit KD.”

Woj doesn't necessarily say that the Nets won't sign Irving alone. But he's clearly talking to high-ranking executives and gauging their interest in various scenarios. So you can reasonably assume that the Nets wouldn't be so interested in making Irving their marquee player after how poorly it ended with him in Boston.

Irving himself, who grew up about an hour away from Brooklyn in West Orange, N.J., may have other reasons to sign with the Nets with or without Durant in tow. If it turns out that the Nets' interest in signing Durant now fades, they may not want Irving unless he recruits someone else.

It still doesn't appear that Irving would have a stunning change of heart and return to the Celtics, either. He's reportedly "ghosted"the team with July 1 around the corner.
