Based on our research, viral claims about SB-145 as "pro-pedophilia" legislation are FALSE. From its passage and vote count to its contents, posts online have spread falsehoods about the legislation, which allows judges to have the same level of discretion over sex offender registration for anal and oral sex that they already do for penile-vaginal sex. It is intended to strengthen the sex offender registry and end discrimination against LGBTQ youth. SB-145 does not apply to intercourse of any kind with minors who are younger than 14. In those cases, mandatory sex offender registration is required by law. It's also applicable only if the adult was within 10 years of age of the minor at the time the offense.

a 25 year old man can have sex with a 15 year old kid, do the 2-3 years in prison and not be registered as a sex offender , correct ? this is still so foul
why its important to be registered as a sex offender because youre put on a list and also map so when someone is buying a home they know if they are moving to someone who has abused kids in the past lives near them.
If this bill is indeed true and not some kind of troll, you could move literally next door to a predator and they wouldnt be on that list because of this new bill.

Possibly, but extremely unlikely. The law just gives judicial discretion, not carte blanche. The offender would probably wind up on the list. Also, the 10 year age gap judicial discretion thing isn't new, it just only applied to vaginal penetration. Anal and oral were automatic lifetime registration. Wiener called this discrimination against homosexuals. Make of that what you will.
The popular way to rectify this is to make all forms of underage sexual contact automatic registration, but then you wind up with situations like I highlighted earlier (an18yo fukking his 17yo gf) that seem ridiculous.
I believe that judicial discretion is a good thing for the most part. Mandatory minimum punishments have all too often been used against black people.
People are too emotional when it comes to this kind of shyt.

i think the issue is that straight people already have this in place, so now they dont want the law to disadvantage gays. if the law is to be equal, they need to figure out how to treat straight and gay criminals the same.
personally, i think there should be a universal straight/gay romeo and juliet law but make the age gap shorter, like 3 years instead of 10. i remember that breh in georgia got put in prison by cacs because he got head from a white girl in the same class he was in but he was 18 and she was 15. stuff like that needs some judge discretion, but a decade is too wide a gap.

I get this was amended to be fair to the LGBT community but I’m still disgusted that in theory, a 14 year old can be groomed by a 24 year old and that person doesn’t have to necessarily be register as a sex offender. Like WTF? Demonic ass state.
