I always hear people say Ether had no facts and yet the reason why it resonated with people more than anything was it addressed Jay's biting of Biggie and how he never had his own voice and tried to mimick other rappers as well as subtle misogyny for women on songs made for them
All those talking points which people said about Jay just like the post-Illmatic album quality issues people had about Nas were enough to make it a diss track with strong facts. Facts that also seemed to have Jay out of pocket and make a diss track like Super Ugly which as much as some Jay fans act like a good record was not and probably lost the battle for Jay more than anything by it being a poor rebuttal.

I love Ether, Jay Z's my GOAT, but the song knocks and Nas clearly won the battle, it's my favorite non-Dre Day diss track.
But Ether doesn't resonate because it's true, a diss tracks job isn't to state facts it's to twist reality enough to stick with fans and get under their opponents skin, which is what Ether did to Jay and one reason why I love it.
But what I don't like is Jay haters and idiots taking the easy to believe Nas created/co-signed narratives and speaking them as facts to the point where they essentially become the equivalent of truth amongst the Hip Hop Community and even get applied to things beyond what was stated by Nas in the battle, which is what has happened, and is one reason why it's harder to be a Jay fan online.
It's stuck because that's what they want to believe and are intrinsically put off by Jay for no work of his own.
