so i was thining of the top college jobs /programs and how those coaches got their jobs and where they came from

brian kelly got notre dame coming from cincy in the watered down big east

bill obrien a assistant in the nfl when he got the penn state gig

jim tressel was a d2 coach when he got ohio state job

bob stoops a defensive coordinator when he got oklahoma

will muschamp a defensive cooridantor when he got florida

mark richt a offensive coordinator

les miles a average coach at oklahoma state when he got lsu

nick saban a failure in teh nfl when he went to alabama

gus malzhan a coach at a sunbelt school for one year when he got auburn

mark helfrich a aoffensive co-ordinator at oregon then got the gig when chip left

steve sarkisian struggled to be bowl eligible many years in washington now he has usc

brady hoke a joke in the mwc/wac conference with san diego state

I can go on and on but f it you know what im saying

but texas hires a coach from a AQ conference, a coach that won a bcs bowl, a coach that was the DC on two bcs championships, a coach that has been sung praises from lou holtz, urban meyer etc.,A coach that recruited great and owned florida

But suddenly he's not big enough for texas :heh:

To be fair Mack Brown as a whole did a pretty damn good job how many coaches win multiple national titles? he also had his qb go down the first drive of the title game in 2010

I know Texas is a huge name but it wasnt like they were winining nearly as much before he got there as opposed to during his run

There is truth in this...Texas wasn't shyt before Mack got there...He went to 2 BCS title games in 9 years....That's a great feat....But after Colt left, its like he lost his feel for the game, and recruiting for that matter....

No, Mack Brown just got lucky. 2 players carried him and that program for a period of 6-7 years. Vince Young and Colt McCoy. His luck ran out when he tried to do it again with Case McCoy and Jaxon Shipley....

And that comment about Charlie Strong making a "good position coach" is just vulgar. He might as well have just came out and said, "I dun gave Texas a hunnerd million and they go hire some nagger"

I think he's really the best hire for Texas, and although I hope Strong fails anytime it benefits Oklahoma(whether it be head to head or against another team in the standings) I'd like to see him succeed as a black man.

everyoen always says that but texas was ranked the 3 previous seasons before mack got there. Even had a 10-2-1 season in 1995. Mack was basically the same coach but got lucky that ricky williams stayed and he rode him that first year.

And then mack rode a quality qb in chris simms and cedrick benson although they didn't get it done

then mack got lucky to get vince young then mack got lucky to colt mccoy

the only reason mack wasnt having those 9-4, 8-5 seasons all throughout the early and mid 2000s was really because of 4 players, major applewhite, chris simms, vince young and colt mccoy

thats it, and the first two were just :ehh:, but they were competant qbs who gave way to teh cedric bensons of the world and threw when needed.

we saw when mack just signed any 4 and 5 star qb who came to texas like garret gilbert, david ash that it his lamp was shining so bright and i love mack brown but he just got lucky.

if anything, i expected this thread to be more about how he tried to make it seem like Charlie wasn't capable enough to be a head coach

not that he secretly implied in hidden cac talk that he doesn't want a ****** coaching the longhorns

He implied that a man that has been HEAD coaching a quality program since 2010 is more fit to be a position coach and also called his hire a "kick in the face". If say.......Jim Mora was hired against his wishes you think McComb and his ilk would degrade his resume and say he was more apt to be a db coach? Honestly?

Again you new type negroes need to google the term "southern strategy". These billionaires are engaged in another type or racism. They not out in public calling folks ******s anymore but if you enlightened you will see how they try to subtely call you inferior in plain view.

in the context of the article, the "kick in the face" seemed more in regards to how the boosters and benefactors of the program had virtually no say on the hiring despite having a history of influence on the position

but he prolly is a racist hick fukk it you got it :heh: i don't care enough about it either way

ATL…overly
:salute: to @Carlos Huerta @heisenburrr & @Big Blue for trying to have a debate about McCombs questionable comments without transforming it into the latest referendum on race relations in this country.

Too bad the Starbucks drinking, racial rabble rouser crowd led by the likes of @NYC Rebel refuse to engage in an intelligent, thought provoking discussion. Much easier to call every white man a cac & lazily imply racism at every turn. SMH
