* Isiah's insight into Buddy's personality was exactly right. He just doesn't understand his players, where they come from, their upbringing, etc. In turn, he can't really relate to them, so his only way of trying to get through to them is to blow up. For example, Isiah actually needed the treatment that Kam got from Buddy, and Kam needed the Isiah treatment. I also like how Isiah pointed out how a coach's self-interest will come into play and ultimately you'll see in them that they're just using you for your athletic ability, and as a means to an end. That whole, "Molding young men," is one of the biggest lies told in all of sports in relation to college football.
* It's kind of a microcosm of sports injuries too. Grown ass men telling kids they're faking, and they're not hurt because their livelihood is dependent upon them. shyt is brutal and sad.
* People are funny as fukk. I'm a lifelong FSU fan; going to be an alum twice over soon and I was reading their thread on this season on the biggest FSU site, and they were saying shyt like, "I could barely understand them.... They make me lose faith in our education system," and so on. If you switched most people's life circumstance(s) with Isiah, Rollie, DJ Law, et al., they don't even make it to Scooba. They'd already be dead or in jail before they get there. I mean, as a dude that's the first in my family to go college, little or no family resources, a high school dropout -- that whole urban tale -- it was a Herculean effort to get to this point. Moreover, I'm naturally smart as hell, my mom wasn't on drugs or no shyt like that and it was still hard as fukk. In terms of socioeconomic status and sheer probability someone like Isiah beat incredible and overwhelming odds to even make it to college.
* Misses Wagner may or may not have been sleeping with players. I will say this, it's indicative of our depravity as a society that the first thing a lot of people think is some sexual dynamic is afoot. We automatically have to make these sexual projections into situations. For me, she seems like a woman that genuinely cares and understands the plight of these dudes in a way that someone like Buddy never could. I also noticed that the players she was closest to were the players that were "seemingly" in search of something: Law, Rollie, Dakota, Tim and so on. She's not going to have the same relationship with a Deandre or John Franklin because they're not looking for the same nurturing consciously or unconsciously. She seems like a good person, regardless.
* What I find interesting about Kam is his great uncle/dad seems like a solid dude. He seems like the type of man that would cultivate the appropriate qualities in a young black man; but Kam was still a dikkhead despite it.
* Did Deandre throw 60 touchdowns? Goddamn.
