Demon Time coming 2024
Five people have been arrested after at least one person opened fire on police officers in Southeast Washington Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Police say a ShotSpotter detected gunfire about midnight in the area of Alabama Avenue and 6th Street SE, about a half-mile west of the Congress Heights Metro station.
When officers arrived at the scene, at least one person inside an SUV began shooting at the officers, police said. The officers returned fire and demanded the suspects get out of the vehicle.
Police said the suspects refused to get out of the SUV, and police began to negotiate with them. After about 30 minutes, all of the suspects surrendered.
Two men and three women were taken into custody.
Police say there's no reason to believe the officers were targeted in any way. Investigators believe the suspects may have been involved in a crime just before their encounter with police. Police have not commented on the nature of that crime.
No injuries were reported.
