part of the reason for the gripe with drill is that not only does it promote violence, but those rappers are making direct threats over a beat and disrespecting dead people.

There's a difference between that and a song like "shook ones" or 'straight outta compton' where they're just talking about general hood topics

I too have a difficult time, fully understanding this insecure hypocrisy they uphold. I imagine most Coli members somehow reconcile that nonsense stance, when they were huge The Wire fans - ones who undoubted adored Omar's character (who was gay, but the hardest and most street actor on that entire show throughout).
