Its funny listening to the interview. There's all these utban legends that surround J, & they're probably true. Word was that Arum had to buy out May from his contract. J Prince is that dud. You respect what he does because he does it low key. Acts like a don for real, how many people fear & respect him.

At the same time, I don't know why rappers still go to him. Other than UGK, I can't think of anyone who has left rap-a-lot happy.

devin did...and devin got fukked over by face, face the sole reason it was only one odd squad album ..he got in j ear to take devin under his wing, in the middle of the next odd squad album

the album got shelved and jugg mugg and blind rob started questioning why, they kept gettin the one more song response, then they sat back, next thing you know devin is in a new group..facemob

jugg n quest thinkin the hold up is devin now..because it seemed he went n joined a new group and it was tension, devin thinkin he was gone be a couple of tracks a featured, he didnt know he was joinin a new group...thats the reason why devin only did one facemob album

devin started wonderin whats up with the odd squad album, got no answers so he said know what fukk it, odd squad still finna eat, you cant break us up

thats why its nomore face on devin albums after the dude, and if u notice blind rob produced on every devin album on rapalot and the odd squad is featured on all til his final days on rap-a-lot

the songs j had in the vault, of odd squad got released on every devin album

they reinvented themselves as the coughee brothaz and rap-a-lot tried to put out a odd squad albums they couldnt because the songs was gone..

when devin left they scraped all the lil songs he had as leftovers n they put that out, it was a shiesty situation for devin but he came out winnin in the long run...

for as ugk

pimp n bun signed to rap-a-lot as solo art*tst, ugk as a group is jive, ugk died when pimp died, n strangely enough jive ended up dying too..

jive never wanted to put them out as solo artist

pimp locked up only nikka lookin out for pimp that was makin sure he was taken care of was lil j...so why not sign with the nikka who is keepin u n ya family straight..

pimp also started fukkin with j for protection, just like z-ro did(ro also was signed to 1000 other labels, that was releasin shyt all the time..rap alot short stopped that)

there is no ugk album on rapalot, solo albums yeah...but group..jive wasnt givin that up

trae another one, he left happy, because he signed a distribution deal, got his money and left

pimp died...his family had hell..to the point of nikkas tryin 2 strong arm his wife for music she has control of..that nikka mama had to get on stage n make appearances to get a lil bread,

pimp knew the lot was shiesty, his broad playaz album with too short, belongs to whomever jive sold their shyt too along with the v-12 boys with boosie nem, doubt its no more than 3-4 songs on that

Dawg, school me on this. How was 2 Low the only one to pull one over Rapalot? i knew about Bun & pimp being solo.

I know some of them left on "good terms", but that's relative. They know what they got into. Too many rappers didn't release material or got shelved. Dirty went to J after leaving Universal, but never released anything. I remember seeing an interview in Houston rocking Rap A Lot chains, talking about their next project. Then they fell off the map.

What do you mean by that?

Hey SKJ, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist (because we all know I AM one)

but what do you think about the roumors that the feds only cracked down on Prince, Meech and Irv Gotti because they were trying to get a joint record distribution company off the ground, and all the media showing was just convenient smoke and mirrors?
They were going to start a music industry union. Irv Gotti spoke on this with MTV's Rap Fix while being interviewed by Sway. It wasn't a distribution company at all according to Irv. It was suppose to be irv, prince and suge. If Meech was involved (which he may have been) Irv didn't say.

I'm glad UGK is being mentioned. UGK was on Jive and blew up back in '92 with "tell me something good" way before they had anything to do with RAL. They not even from Houston they from Port Auther Texas. I say that because people keep attributing their success too RAL and that simply isn't true.

One more thing with the feds being after Prince. The dope thing has been mentioned but if you listen to early RAL music and even current music a good amount is very anti-establishment. They got at cops, the government and even the school system. Once you talk like that they gon' come after you. Especially if you talking about shooting back at them. They don't want the young males especially young Black males to get in their minds that they can fight back against their oppression. They definitely don't want an armed rebellion so they try to silence anyone that speaks from that prospective. Pac is a good example of this.
