Kurosawa rightly gets his dues and movies like High & Low and Ikiru are basically clinics on film-making
I been branching out more recently. Ozu has a real distinctive style and even though his movies are slow if you get into them they got the best characters in any movies. Late Spring one of my five favorite movies now Heres the whole movie
and then you got Mizoguchi who basically fathered all these long-take legends like Tarkovsky and Tarr... he might have the most dynamic camera vision and environmental framing ive ever seen
i havent even gotten to other directors like Naruse and Kinoshyta yet
