John Cena is an elite superstar. He's probably the first face on Mt. Rushmore of Professional Wrestling. Being popular goes head to head with being talented and in professional wrestling, the true talent is making people care and Cena has done that more so than Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, The Rock or any of his predecessors.

Not my opinion so dont leave me leaking red

Make people care? He doesn't draw WM buyers...that died back at WM 22. And go look up "Cena, this is your life' In Boston from November 2011...for a guy who has "done the most", he sure was treated like a jobber by his own home town fanbase.

As for the Mt Rushmore of wrestling? It's probably Rock/Hogan/Austin/Vince. Only the WWE mentions Andre these days....even though he was the SUPERSTAR before Hogan was really put over after that Rocky 3 movie.

This is what the he was trying to say but it a long winded version of
who should or shouldn't get push and who entertaining

We using to say We in the Internet Wrestling Community just love to use the term "future main-eventer" and "has all the tools in the world" and with that we have terms like "underrated" and "overrated" wrestlers. Anything that new and fresh is pretty much an excuse to create a thread to complain how much John Cena sucks ass and how this new thing should be the one to replace him.

Now, if history is any indication for you all, and it should be - NEVER did once a #1 guy got replaced while on the full-time roster. Nobody surpassed Bruno Sammartino, he just went away for some time, which led to Backlund carrying the load and to Hogan finally having his big break. Sammartino then returned, obviously not in his peek anymore as far as talent goes. Now, nobody ever surpassed Hulk Hogan. He just left in 1993, which led to the explosion of Bret Hart and Michaels to carry the load, until Austin finally came in and restored the true #1 spot for him. Nobody ever surpassed Austin, even though The Rock was close when Austin went away for some months, but as soon as Austin returned, he was once again the #1 guy bar none and then he retired for good. Kurt Angle, Lesnar and Triple H carried the load, until John Cena appeared and reclaimed the #1 spot again.

So in the whole history of the WWE, nobody ever surpassed the face of the company, while they were full-time performers. It may happen for some weeks, like with Warrior and Hogan. Rock and Austin. Punk and Cena, but ultimately the #1 always prevails.

My second point - some guys are just better not being the guy. Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Edge... Those are three names that are not a part of the "big draws" in the history of wrestling, but all of them have Hall of Fame careers. Obviously someone, somewhere thought that they would be the ones to replace so and so, but that never happened and it was NOT a bad thing.

And now that I could take this out, I'll go to my actual point with this thread - WWE has a full roster right now with tremendous talents. Guys that go from Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Big E., Ziggler, Sandow, Rhodes, Barrett, Kingston, Ambrose and so on - guys that we all see have potential to be main event players, mostly because we're a bunch of fantastic guys and we love everybody.

But it's obviously that some of this guys won't reach the WWE World Heavyweight Championship spot, probably none of them will be the ones to fully replace John Cena since this process actually takes sometime. And as I stated, that is not a bad thing... So what I want to know is who are the guys that are currently entertaining you, but in any way shape or form, do you think that they should get more exposure or get a bigger push?

Austin wasn't no #1, bar none:laugh: When Austin came back, his whole character and career was different. He was behind the Rock and they fit him back towards the top of the picture officially by Rumble 2001 even though the Rock was what the crowd was most excited about most of that match. He was able to be the lead guy past Mania 17 when Rock finally took 4 months off to film that movie since he was never the type to get injuried. He came back..ratings went to 5.7 after being down for months on end. He came back and headlined Summerslam and Austin/Angle was pushed to the wayside...Angle automatically lost the top face spot and it was really all about Rock eventually getting revenge on Austin by Survivor Series. Rock wasn't behind anyone on those shows..people refer to the Rock/Jericho promo on Booker, Shane, and Stephanie more than anything Austin and anyone else was doing during that timeframe...it's a iconic segment.

Me either since everyone has said Austin turning heel basically started his drop off while the Rock never dropped off. It was Rock/Hogan at WM 18..not Austin/Hogan. It was Rock/Goldberg..not Austin/Goldberg. See the problem? It's impossible for the Rock to be #2....until he felt like being out of the top spot.

The Rock is obviously the most successful wrestler of all time and the only one able to do A-list movies full time after transitioning from wrestling

Austin regrets the heel turn because they would not boo him.

Austin refused to face Hogan.

Austin's last match was against the Rock the night before Goldberg debuted in the company.

Has Cena really made people care on his own? I mean, he's in the title picture always because of who he is and what he means to the company and he's earned that but if he left the business tomorrow, who would really miss him? When Rock left people yearned for his return for 7 years. People STILL want Austin to come back. If Cena didn't come back, would people be mad?
