Let's be reality, what would you trade Kaepernick for at this point.

If we could get a 2nd and a 3rd i`d be okay with that.

What qb in the past 5 years has been drafted in the 2nd round that is definitively better than Kap? Factor in them playing on this bum ass O philosophy

I don't think there's anyone I'd rather take over Kap. The strength of his potential alone is enough to give him at least another season with a FUNCTIONAL offensive system

seriously think Roman wants to leave, but doesn't want to quit and not get paid, so he's actively trying to get fired so he can leave and still get paid. Shyt makes no sense.

Potential is a fukking awful word.

This about his third year in the league, the potential is now unfulfilled results.

Big money deal, for a low producing QB.

And as always, people wanna make the OC the all encompassing evil, because it's easier to change those type of people. It happens all the time, it's a lot harder to think the guy we're committed to long term, the most important position on the team, might be an average player.

I guess I should have said raw skills. A qb in this mold doesn't come around every draft. Kap is fast as fukk and has a live arm. That's obviously not all it takes to become a good qb, but to throw away such a skilled player without at least trying to put him in an offensive scheme that complements his skill set is wasteful to me, and I think we'll regret it.

IMO Kap is far more valuable than whatever scheme we chose to run. We should be molding the scheme around him, not the other way around.

Here are the past 5 draft years for QB's, who other than Luck and Russ would yall want on this team? Dudes need to shut all this just move on to another QB shyt up. Lucks, Rodgers', Mannings aint falling from the sky, there won't be and never will be 32 beast ass starting QB's in the NFL. If you have an above average (even average) talent at QB, you learn to win with it. Please move on to the many other problems that we need to address which don't lead to the QB carousel we had for 7/8 years. As much as I don't want to see Harbs leave, if his being stubborn and coaching philosophies are fukking up the O, then I'd rather tinker with the coaching staff versus having a swinging door at QB.

I`ll agree, he is the most raw skilled qb i may have ever seen.

He's like a video game QB, but he is lacking in so many other of the areas that you need to be a top QB.

I think his talent will carry him to a 10 year career, but it's hard to see him improving, he's 27 now and still and is only regressing.

My mere thought is we should just SEE what is out there for this guy. Is there any team that`ll give up something nice for his services.

This. Kap isn't a stand in the pocket and read the defense qb. He's basically an athlete playing QB. Why not use that to our advantage instead of trying to mold him into something else? Molding him will take longer and there will be growing pains (like we're seeing now), but using his athletic ability to our advantage on offense would ease up everything for everybody else on offense.

Give a guy that many weapons, and watch him completely fukking flop on his face.

Look at the thread title, says it all.

It was a gimmick offense in 2012, and while he has shown he is a capable leader at times, but he doesn't seem like the answer at QB. It's been all downhill since that SB loss

I`m okay with him still being our QB, and maybe he can improve, but if im the FO i`m open to the idea of seeing what his value is.

it wasnt a gimmick offense in 2012, they ran double tes over 50% of the time

vernon and walker created so many match up problems it opened up things for guys like crabs

they have never been able to replace walker

Yeah, it's probably best to build around his skills and avoid his limitations.

But I think that's the key, our coaches thought he could overcome his limitations and evolve into something else.

Yeah, i'm no Kap stan or anything, and if dude stinks i'm not afraid to say we need to move on, but it would be sacrilege to just give up on the guy without ever maximizing his "potential"

But yeah, we should always be keeping an ear to the ground and an eye to the future, cuz Kap ain't Rogers or Luck...yet

The read option was a gimmick.

That's facts man, that was a gimmick ass offense. They had Walker and Davis for long before Kaep came in, they weren't running the same shyt that very year even.

Once Smith went out, we went with a very gimmicked offense, a very effective one, but it was a gimmick

I`m just open to the idea of looking around. Because if we're gonna dump everything Harbaugh did, well then that QB is a big part of the Harbaugh era as well.

Yeah, I guess they thought wrong. When it started to go bad, they should've gone back to what worked before; Double TE's and power running. Instead, they tried to force the issue and now we have a dumpster fire.

Also, it's being reported that the Raiders have had informal contact with Harbs to gauge his interest.

its not a gimmick, everybody uses the read, even the eagles with sanchez and the dolphins with tannehill

its effective when ran correctly

when your running double tes over 50% of the times its not a gimmick offense
