I agree with you on Smith's lower valuation but give his prodigious, Aldon can still command a high price. I'm thinking between 12 and 16 million guaranteed. You're already 10 million above the cap as it stands and project to be in the same position next year. I suppose Baake could roll over money to 2016 next year, but if Aldon stays out of trouble he can get 14/15 million a year on top of a big guarantee.

Ahmad Brooks (9 mil cap) and Vernon Davis (7 mil cap) are 2 guys who are either going to have to take a drastic pay cut or bounce up out of here. With those 2 moves, I think we can handle Smith's deal. Justin Smith (6.5) and Ray McDonald (6.5) are another 2 guys who are going to be question marks re: if/how long they're gonna be with us. It's gonna be tight, but after they pulled off that Kap contract, I trust Baalke/Paraag with this shyt

I expect Brooks to be cut/traded. Although he's a better overall LB than Lynch, Lynch showed promise and is cheaper, so it's simple.
I'm not sure what is gonna happen with Vernon. Next to Frank and Pat, he's been a staple of the Niners and was a hero in the Playoffs. He had 13 TD's last year and has averaged about 730 Yards Receiveing and 8 TD's a season since 2011 (Didn't include totals for this season since it's still going on). I think they'll ask him to take a pay cut in exchange for extending him. I don't think they'll cut him, though, because the other options at TE aren't good enough.
As far as Aldon, they don't have to pay him until AFTER the 2015 season, so there's no rush. Everybody pretty much expects him to play out his contract. I doubt he hits FA, though (Franchise Tag).
