Boone is a top 5 guy? Over the past 2 year PFF has him at 11th overall. But I really like Boone as a player, especially his versatility, and if we could pay him 5 money, then I'd say do it because I think he's only going to get better, but firstly, report to camp if you wanna get paid. Baalke doesn't negotiate with holdouts, and VD got the memo, so I dunno what Boone's playing at.

Secondly, I don't think we could afford Boone at top 5 money. We're pretty tight against the cap, and we still have to make space for Crab and Aldon's long term deals, both of which are ahead of Boone imo.

theres something wrong with iputati, i dont think hes fully recovered from last years injury. he has no lateral quickness and that explains why his agent is suddenly willing to sign a extension after declining the past couple of years

something is up with him, niners better tread carefully with him

The way Boone filled in at LT is really why I want him on this team.

To me his a very good guard, but a better OL all around.

He stepped up against Stl as I recall and basically shut down one of the best pass rushes in the game

That's where my concerns were starting to head too, I haven't got a chance to watch the games closely, but I was wondering if this change at center had something to do with the ineffectiveness of the line

We all knew there were going to be growing pains with Kilgore even though he's been around for 4 years. I don't remember any pressure being straight up the gut, but I do know Iupati was getting worked.

That sack fumble Iupati looked bad, this is why i`m thinking maybe we need to look at it as Iupati or Boone, one or the other.

Iupati is the better player, but maybe Boone is the better money spent.

Either way, it sucks to feel shaky about this line going into what feels like a now or never year. I recall a few being critical of our line over the years, but we might be on the verge of seeing just how much we relied on them previously

Niners "hoping" for dislocated knee cap for Marcus Martin

There is hope 49ers rookie center Marcus Martin sustained a dislocated kneecap and did not suffer major ligament damage after he was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of a 21-7 win over the Chargers on Sunday, a source said.

Martin, 20 a third-round pick from USC, will have an MRI today to determine the severity of his injury. Martin would presumably be able to return at some point in the regular season with a dislocated kneecap.

Martin, who can also play guard, is slated to open the season as the 49ers backup center behind Daniel Kilgore, who has does not have an NFL start. Adam Snyder, 32, started three games at center for the Cardinals in 2012 and competed for the starting spot at the position with Jonathan Goodwin during training camp with the 49ers in 2011. Guard Ryan Seymour, 24, took some snaps at center at Vanderbilt, but did not a start a game at the position during his 35-start college career.

Make no mistake about it. I like Boone, I know he's a great player and I know we need him.

But with it said, I can't be the only one that finds it funny how some of y'all are on some "bu bu but the Niners should sign him to whatever he wants...." But just a few months back with Kaep y'all were like "oh if he wants X amount of money, fukk'EM!! We should drop him, we should trade him.... Blah blah blah":sas2:

Sidenote.... Lynch has been impressive and that boy Hyde :whoo:

kilgore was 'ok' in pass pro but he got destroyed in run blocking. hell, the whole line was weak in run blocking this game, but kilgore 'stood out'...lack of push is really concerning

A big part of the running plays that we like to run involve pulling our guards and whoever gets the go between Snyder and Looney there will be a slight drop off because those two aren't as quick footed as Boone there was a pulling play yesterday where Snyder was pulling dude was so slow to get there that the play got blown up quick with penetration .. hopefully this last preseason game it will settle who they'll go with
