How do u combat it when they bring up those inaccurate statistics they love to throw out?

Depends on what the statistic is.
First read the chart. Understand what it is. The data is not an accurate measure of crime in America, anyone using the data to draw comparisons from city to city or group to group are warned not to in the very same report because the data is volunteered by some but not all police agencies and is not accurate.
If I am in a 90% district and don’t volunteer my data for 2016, but my friend in a 90% black district does and I have more crime than him, you can obviously see the data won’t be accurate. The report warns against using this volunteer information for drawing conclusions, and is really for researchers and criminology students to use in classes.
Those stats are also only “race and ethnicity” classified by ARRESTS. Arrest are not an accurate measure also, because if you are never arrested, then you are never recorded, or as is the case with black people ( countless studies have proven this) if you are over arrested and 10xs more likely to be arrested for the same thing as a white person, then you over arrest will lead to you being recorded more often.
The reality is even with the skewed information, white people still make up 65+% of the arrest. Keep in mind white people are the group with the most economic opportunities and freedoms in this country, if anything they have the least motivation to commit crimes out of everyone and they are still 65%+ of all arrests, even when they are 10x less likely to be arrested for a crime than a black person.
What these white supremecist will tell you is “bu Bu but blacks are only ___% of the population and commit ___% of the Crime”
Once again this data is not a total collection of statistics in this country, it is volunteer data and many don’t. The race or ethnicity information only counts for arrested people, not suspected people or people who commit a crime and never get caught, so ofcourse the people who are 10x more likely to be profiled and arrested than everyone else will show up on a arrest statistic whether they are convicted of the crime or not. All they need is the arrest for the data.
The UCR warns inside the damn report not to take this data seriously for drawing any conclusions and explains why, but idiots like this guy use it everyday to try to sell a race and political false agenda. They know what they are doing.
