LeVar Burton Is Kickstarting the Return ofReading Rainbow

LeVar Burton is raising $1,000,000 on Kickstarter to bring back Reading Rainbow, the kids' show that got a whole generation into imagination, literacy, and not taking LeVar Burton's word for anything.

The million bucks will bring new episodes of Reading Rainbow to the web, help produce a specialized version of the show for 1,500 classrooms, and distribute it free to schools in need.

During its original run, from 1983 to 2006, Reading Rainbow won an amazing 26 Emmys. In 2012, Burton brought the show back as an app for tablets, but that doesn't come close to meeting his goal of making it available to every kid everywhere.

Launched Wednesday, the Kickstarter has already raised $418,000. The biggest backer rewards include a private dinner with LeVar at $3,500 and a chance to wear Geordi LaForge's actual visor at $10,000.

Napoleon in 250,000 BCE: How much Ugg responsible for him be eat by sabre tooth tiger? Napoleon have advance degree in science of rock and twig. Not tell you where from though.

oh my fukking god, fukk whoever wrote this fukking article

LETS bytch ABOUT THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM AND THEN bytch ABOUT SOMEONE TRYING TO HELP OUR KIDS READ.

This is why kickstarter is the shyt, WE THE PEOPLE funded this shyt, we raised almost 2 million dollars so far.

That article isn't complaining about LeVar, it's praising him. It's complaining about how poor the state of funding and education is in public schools that a commonsensical, positive idea like LeVar's has to be implemented like this, through Kickstarter and by one man.

How is the sailing trip going with Troy? Any great stories?

Hahaha! Well, being captured by pirates has been interesting. As it turns out, this particular band of pirates are big fans of both Community and Star Trek, so as pirates go, they've been fairly accommodating.
