Another mecha franchise is getting the silver screen treatment, as Legendary announced today at Anime Expo that the Mobile Suit Gundam series will be receiving a live-action movie. Due to a collaboration with Sunrise, the film itself will take place in the “Universal Century” timeline that so many anime, manga and video games of the franchise have been set in.

Regarded as one of the most well-known and influential anime series ever, Gundam has been attempted as a live-action film multiple times in the past. The only time those efforts have come to fruition was in the recent Ready Player One from earlier this year. While Ready Player One featured a mecha cameo, the newly announced film will focus solely on the Mobile Suit Gundam property.

Probably one of the few animes that can translate well to live-action. :patrice:

They can easily fukk up though. Not every Gundam timeline is piff, some just having boring backgrounds.

However, I dont know if you can truly fukk up a space opera. You have to be super incompetent (Jupiter Ascending :scust: )

There are some good ones:
  • SF2: The Animated Movie (I know that's cheating)
  • Mortal Kombat (I know that's not anime)

That's all I got :francis:

I don't understand how you can screw up GITS though :snoop:
