It really is revealing, the level of talent that someone like Vandross had. You see him sitting at a piano with Marcus Miller just listening as they go over the changes (if you don't know who that is, you better study the credits & check the resume. )





But he worked his way with music gods like the one below. He was on Young Americans. If you don't know that, it is "David Bowie" He understood one thing, you had to keep studying to be great, you couldnt just stand on stage & be average. He was with Thin White Duke before he became a super star. How many people do you know who toured with David Bowie? It made him better being around musicians that weren't part of his musical style, imagine that. Now today we would have someone on Coli forum snickering at the fact that someone was doing something out of their comfort zone. But it made him 10x better & more prepared. Never ever listen to people who say "You shouldn't do that" This type of individual stagnates where Music is meant to go. Always remember that.
