Retarded move, coaching wasn't the problem, it's the roster and the complete lack of awareness of it being time to move on from Conley & Gasol.
Fizz did as good of a job with that team as you can expect, they lack talent and their two primary players are aging. They should be the poster child for holding on too long and not knowing when to rebuild.
while this is true, I think Gasol's stock has slipped in the past couple of years, mainly because of other C's emerging and him getting older. and as good a player as Conley is, he's not worth $28 million to anyone. reason being is because a bad team doesnt want to hamstring themselves and a team close to contention doesnt have that much money to fork out. he isnt good enough to get a middle of the road team like Detroit over the hump.
the best place and probably the only place where you could get the most value out of Conley would be the Spurs. They would need to buy Parker out, offload Mills on someone somehow and run with Murray as the backup.
