This, I think it's smart, because it's easy for a 19 year old to blow threw 500k, hopefully his parents are a bit more financially savvy, so they can properly invest and grow that money.

He's only 19 so his parents will probably still be helping him for the next 10 years or so of his life. By giving it them they'll probably be able to get their debts paid off and be in a better position to help him in the future. He really made a round about investment into himself
