According to Howard Eskin of 94WIP (via
Ray Boyd of CBS Philly), the
Philadelphia Eagles offered the quarterback a four-year deal worth $18 million per year, which he and his agent turned down earlier this year.
“They
were big fans of Bradford,” Eskin said on
The Josh Innes Show on Monday. “They’re not as big of fans of Bradford because obviously they will not sign him to the contract that he turned down which was about $18 million a year.”
Eskin added that Bradford's agent was the driving force behind turning down the deal.
That gamble, if the report is true, may prove costly. Bradford has had his struggles this season, throwing for 1,766 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions as the Eagles went into their Week 8 bye with a 3-4 record.
The team has been inconsistent on offense in general, struggling at times to get a consistent running game going. The offensive line has struggled to protect Bradford, while his wide receivers have dropped countless passes.
Still, the quarterback has been shaky himself. While Bradford could turn his season around and lead the Eagles to the postseason in a weak NFC East, it's hard to imagine he'll garner $18 million per year on the market given his spotty play to this point and his extensive injury history.
