common sense, considering a huge portion of this board is filled with random people not only pretending to be Black, but have never got in a fight in their life..

but, we gonna act like Tyson wasn't gettin taxed like these rappers, fighters and entertainers have been, and do now..? :what: i think Tyson is one of the coolest folks i ever met, but lets keep it a hunnid..

How did that meeting come about? Im curious to know because people been saying Mike is a totally different dude in person

hiphop nowadays is looked at as a joke..not only by nikkas like me, but even a lot of white folks too..

back in the day, white folks was shocked & awed by hiphop cuz it was from the hood & was raw..even the non street/gangsta rap like PE had a hardcore edge to it & you took them serious

i can't take NONE of these nikkas today serious..cuz none of'em have a serious vibe to'em, at all..

:mindblown: you CLEARLY lack common sense to even make the statements ur making in the first place...of course him saying 90% wasnt accurate and it wasnt even MEANT TO BE...he's basically making a statement that majority of rappers then were tougher than the majority of rappers now....and no..we not talkin bout Joe Blow from down the block with no record deal recording out of his basement...we talkin bout nikkas who was KNOWN...and even then...society ALONE makes his statement hold true in that regard as well..u basically just runnin ya mouth g...for no reason...dismissing everything he's sayin as nostalgia when he's had interactions with rappers of the past to present and u have interactions with NEITHER....
His clear implication was that most rappers back in the day were legitimate certified tough guys...not even holding on to that 90% figure in stone...but the stance the rap game was chock full of hardened no nonsense hard hitters that he's making there is vintage nostalgic glory days revisionist old n!gga rhetoric...sure you had some legit tough guys in the business, but you had just as many 2pacs and Dr. Dres out there too...playing a role because that was the trend of the moment in hip hop at the time....as a general rule "legit tough guys" don't end up in the entertainment industry (well not as performers and acts, there's plenty behind the scenes)...it's not in the make up of most "legit tough guys" (in the street context Mike is using it) personality wise to be entertainers....there are exceptions, but usually rappers may have "legit tough guys" backing them, protecting them, etc...but very rarely are they those dudes themselves...again, this has been said by countless ACTUAL TOUGH GUYS from that era before Mike said otherwise in this podcast...how it compares to today was none of my concern...I just had to comment on the clear :duck: in that statement as it's the main point and title of the thread

and that's the overall crazy shyt about it...even nikkas who was tough guys was gettin shytted on by even more tougher guys...nah mean?...certain nikkas from that era would run shyt now...and im not even talkin bout the toughest nikkas....

yup..
imo. I think the huge difference is back then.. you could be a cat like Cube from LA(this is just a instance.. nothing against Cube).. you in NWA.. blah, blah, blah.. then. you get beat up on up Sunset in broad daylight- its not that big a deal.. you still a legend.. made great music.. blah, blah, blah.. :heh:

that kinda shyt would end a rappers career, now.. Cam gets punched in the eye, all of a sudden people think his career over.. cats think he marshmallow soft.. blah, blah, blah..

all that kinda shyt stems from the whole, "we didnt have that back in my day" mentality.. when in reality- we did.. alot of them cats, were just as fake, get tin extorted, wanna be tough guys if not worse than some of these folks now.. its just we have more access to their lives now..

Muhammed Ali was the only middle class fighter. Looks wise he was more a moDel than a boXer but he was an animal inside the ring.

Of course he's right...Death Row had nyggas rocking around with AKs and glocks in the studios during album sessions and recordings. shyt was hilarious...they were running shyt like a some fake Luciano crime family spinoff. The Vanilla Ice story is one of the funniest things I've ever heard and then when he got quiet on VH1 when he it was time to confirm it again, he was forever proven to be a lifetime bytch:laugh:

it was actually, pretty random..

was hanging with Harold Hunter, and a bunch of friends skating through Manhattan and Harold knew him so we just all sat in some restaurant and talked to dude for a bit..

he was laid back.. real cool cat.. not anywhere as animated as i see him on tv.. :manny:

weird shyt, because I met a lot of folks that Summer in NY.. as i was sayin to @spliz and I'm sure he knows.. a lot of these cats have been fake as hell.. just folks didnt know back then, because information wasnt fed to the public like it is now..
