Lupe's influence is very understated. Along with Kanye he helped usher in certain Streetware Fashion, Japanese Culture, Anime and general nerdiness that we see celebrated by today's rappers. A lot of brands ASAP MOB rep Lu was first.

Ab Soul, Isaiah Rashad, Wale, Cole, Fashawn, ASAP MOB, Cousin Stizz, Casey Veggies, Denzel Curry, Domo Genesis, Chance the Rapper, it's a long list that have said publicly Lupe is 1. The reason they started rapping 2. A huge influence if not the number 1 reason.

Cole said the rap game changed when Lupe got signed and that's when things started to turn around.

My issue with Lupe is that he can be too dense at times. I’m not a fan of word puzzle rap or overly complicated lyrics.
That being said, I liked Lupe’s rapping on that album.
The production on T&Y wasn’t that good to me. That was the problem.
What do you think is a really dope beat on that album? I remember thinking Little Death was a standout.

Honestly I think Kendrick is closer to some of the best Nas attributes than anyone. Both have a knack for vivid, evocative lyricism and introspection. That's what I think of when I think of Nas at his best. Project window prophet watching the world turn on its axis. Whereas Hov and Kendrick are completely different rappers.
