And it was established as South Carolina College at the time. They changed the name to "university of" only 12yrs before Southern California. During a time which they only had an enrollment of less than 100 people in a decade because it was shut the fukk down. Years later, they opened the school back up as South Carolina College of Agriculture AFTER University of Southern California had already opened with one of the largest endowments and enrollments in the country.

Theeeeen South Carolina College of Agriculture opened back up after being closed for years and finally officially changed its name to University of South Carolina in 1906. So nah, ain't nobody "beat you to it" breh. They were founded beforehand as a completely different name.
