Earn a $50 bonus when you open a Capital One 360 Checking Account. Capital One 360 does not use ChexSystems. The fukk is the point of this? You getting paid for this?

:dwillhuh:

Anyways... I have Capital One 360. I like it. The only hassle is not having a physical branch to deposit cash, although I never really get paid in cash. I think they're solving that with the ability to deposit at their ATMs in the near future, if they haven't already done it.

Relative to the other shythole banks, they pay nice interest on savings.

Is there a reason why I need to avoid ChexSystems?

If you have negative balances for too long, excessive overdraft fees, etc. then the bank closes your account and submits your info to ChexSystems. Most major banks check it before opening a checking account. It's like Equifax for banks.

Yeah pretty much.

But if that balance stays negative for years and years then it goes to collections. Something customers should consider.

Thanks OP, valuable information for those of us in the US. People who are "unbanked" aren't able to build savings. A lot of the victims of Hurricane Katrina said that they had money stashed in their homes because they didn't have checking accounts. Of course that was lost in the flood.
