Bet you won't hear a peep out of the small government crowd. But let someone propose using 10% of the defense budget to pay for college tuition.

Sure you will. I'm for small government, which includes defense. That we spend so much more than others combined is ridiculous. One of the few roles of government should be defense, but not at the expense of things like healthcare and education, especially when so much of that goes to exotic toys that will probably never be used and for purposes of nation building.

I saw rampant waste first hand working for the government. It was pitiful. You'd have group spending lavishly on things that could be justified on the surface, but were not necessary and only done for purposes of showing their budget could be used up, which would give them the same budget the next year.
