It's mostly associated with the slums and people of color (black and mixed), so yeah. A really popular song even goes (translated): "It's a black thing, it's a hood thing, but when it's on everybody's moving/dancing"

Oh ok, i seen this documentary about Brazilian funk on vice and i didn't really see black people and barely seen mixed people.
