lack of big men wasnt the problem youre right....defense on the wings was the problem...they couldnt stop the penetration of the spurs....every time that happened the defense broke down and the rotations were too slow=wide open 3s which the spurs couldnt miss :manny:

lack of a big was a major problem, the issue was Miami would close out hard to shooters, Spurs would then would put the ball on the floor, which forced the help...if the help come shooters got open, if the help didnt come they would get layups. When I saw guys like Danny Green or Matt Bonner getting to the rim it became very noticeable to me.

a nice solid shot blocker would allow Miami to play a less aggressive, less trappy, and over helping defense. That style of defense hides the no big, but its hard for a team to play like that for long stretches. A big man lets them play more man to man, birdman helped last year but was injured or something this time around.

I hope no ones believes this

Funny how everyone ignores the pre-lebron years
  • 96 when he came in and brought Zo, Timmy and eventually Mash
  • '00 when he brought in Bryan Grant and Eddie Jones (it didn't work out with Zo getting sick but the effort as there)
  • '03 when he brought in Odom, Wade to pair with Eddie Jones and Butler
  • '04 when he brought in Shaq
  • '05 when he tore the squad down and rebuilt around Wade and Shaq
  • 07 went out and got Sean Marion
  • 09 went out and got JerMaine Oneal
  • '10 when he shocked you bums with the coup d'états known as The Decision (i busted a nut seeing Knicks fans shyt on themselves that night)
  • '12 when he brought in Ray-ray
Again, doggy. When have you known RIley to not make moves

I was talking 07-09

It was pretty bleak and there was some bad moves

Didn't he trade for Ricky Davis?

Oh.. wow.. we sucked for 2+ years:dwillhuh:
Doggy,

Why do you think Riley kept taking contracts that would all expire in the same year as Wade's? YOu really thought Riley enjoyed paying bums like Mark Blount 23 million for the last 3 years of his contract? We saw them as bad players, Riley saw them as EXPIRING CONTRACTS

You see because you have eye sight but you have no VISION.

Wade had to suffer in the meantime but Riley had a plan. I'm sure he wasnt 100% sure he could land all 3 of the top FAs in Miami together but he knew he had to make room to have the money available for whoever would want to come so money wouldnt be an issue.
Seriously, breh you think it was coincidence/luck that at the Time when Lebron, Bosh and Wade were free agents, Riley only had 1 player under contract?:sas2: You really think that was a coincidence, huh? :pachaha:

The East doesn't have any teams that could possibly expose the Heat's weaknesses. The Pacers and Bulls had consistently exposed our small line-up, but on the offensive end, they can't score, so the Heat benefit from their offensive mishaps . If we had lost the 2013 finals against the Spurs, the Heat would have made drastic changes for a bigger line-up and move Bosh away from the three-point line. Miami got comfortable and stay with the system that made them struggle in the 2013 playoffs. They didn't make any effort to fill the gaps, but sign a center with shaky knees and picked up Beasley who barely play any minutes in the post season. :upsetfavre:

The Heat will NEVER play a team as good as this Spurs team again. Not only are they extremely talented, deep and well coached, they had the ULTIMATE motivation after last year's collapse. If we meet the Spurs again next year they won't have the same drive. No way you conjure up that type of motivation and focus without that type of heartbreak fueling it.

Spurs got us. But we'll be back. Again and again...
