Trying to do after work drinks on Friday night. Looking for a decent spot preferably midtown. Cool vibe. Black working folk type joint. Recommendations?

Hmmmmm. Midtown is gonna be tough because you won't have a huge collection of black folk in one spot. I work in midtown in the 40s/westside and a lot of companies only have a few black folk sprinkled around in there. So when I go out after work, there's no more than 1 other black person, which sucks sometimes.
Folks have to usually plan something out and then go chill downtown or even BK. It's easier with the club scene but you run into ratchetness. I've gone to a couple of events that some black professionals be at and the vibe sometimes came off real lame.
Your best bet might be to assemble a small crew (no more than 3 other brehs/brehettes) and roll to spots together and hold shyt down.
Harlem breh, that's it ...Midtown is full of c00ns though they come off like this:
I can't front. Midtown is c00n'd out and I've seen it in my own company (corporate shyt). A lot of try to fit in and make asses out of themselves in the process. When people go out after work (mostly bars/pubs), I go sparingly just to not seem 1000% anti social but don't make a habit of chilling in this nearly all CAC excursions.
The best bet for brehs is to have a strong team of their own and align with other like minded folks, which can be a challenge even in NY but do-able
