The guy he quoted actually has legal training/experience, how about you? If this case goes to trial you don't think the jury would find out at some point that the guy promoted them once? Stop talking out of your ass, you're talking to someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

The fact that he once promoted for them might be something his own lawyer brings up first just to get it out of the way. Mention it "innocuosly", present the facts straight up, and attempt to limit the harm. Doesn't matter if he is speaking to a judge or jury.
