this was back when i was in school . I worked in the student union building on campus and breh had a show there. I was doing the maintenance that night and had to set up/put together breh's stage platform dolo beforehand (due to short staff). Anyway to make a long story short I ran across/passed dude and a couple of his homies on one of the floors (only folks on the floor was us), walked right by him, gave a nod and a "have a good show", not even on some stan shyt, and breh said nothing/looked right through me like i wasn't there with the most smug/arrogant look on his face . Low key I believe it was because I had a broom and dustpan in my hands at the time as i was touching up the floors a bit earlier, but either way dude dropped a few points in my book. Initially I was going to cop a ticket for the show to give some respect, but that incident changed my thought process, since i was on the clock i used that to my advantage and saw it for free

If what she said was true (doesn't look that way, but who really knows), it probably isn't that simple as just up and recording new material.

I doubt she has a consistent day job outside of music, and she's spoke about her financial troubles in the past before. Her recording probably cost her thousands of dollars out of her own pocket booking studio time, hiring musicians, other vocalists, etc. She's not a soundclick rapper spitting over trap beats recorded in her own basement. Whatever she submitted is time, money, art, and effort she probably cant afford to lose at this stage in the game.

All of the above reinforces exactly what I just said. You're kinda making my point for me.

She's not some run of the mill rapper trying to get put on who can just record anything fairly inexpensively. I think you're severely underestimating the time and cost it takes to hire bands for live instrumentation, professional singers, and song writers or co-writers.

I don't know if you've followed her career at all, but the fact that she puts so much effort into her song making process and doesn't fit into any category that can be easily pigeonholed (she's definitely not "neo-soul" and even resented that label) is one of the major reasons she's had such a rough time getting back into the industry. Labels figured the cost and risk of producing her music the way she wanted it to be wasn't worth the investment considering it was so hard to market what she does.
