goldberg was ahead of austin.

i think hes referring to how over the wolfpac was.

case in point, the crowd was behind nash.

Well hell yeah..crowd was pro Nash and were chanting Goldberg SUCKS but Nash being over didn't make money. RVD was getting cheered over almost everyone in 2001 but was he getting higher ratings than Stone Cold and the Rock? Of course not...was he selling out arenas like they were? Hell nah...he sold merchandise and the crowds loved him..that was his limit. Had he got a green light push, who knows what he could of meant in 2002 but Austin and Rock were way too hot in 01 for that to happen.

That weren't outdrawing Goldberg in 98..are u on Crack? Austin was barely ahead of Goldberg...once Goldberg went down, WCW was never the same. The WWF crowd popped bigger for Goldberg and Sting than anyone Vince mentioned in that kick off promo for who they wanted to see in the WWF.

And if the ratings were collapsing like the troll poster is suggesting, they murdered the ratings in January 99 with The Nash and Hogan charade and never recovered.

Go pull up the numbers or STFU up with the ducktales :camby:

email Meltzer or check the books...the nwo angle was waning down in 98 and Goldberg was the hottest thing in WCW for most of the year. U think Nash could fill up that arena with Hogan in Atlanta? 40,000 strong for a Nitro title defense? Lol.

what does that matter?

are you saying that nash wasnt worthy of a title run?

im pretty sure that arena was already filled regardless.

when did they announce the hogan/goldberg match? 7 days before the show?

nitro was packing domes with ease back then. i dont even remember the main events for the other dome shows.

What does it matter? WCW is dead and that stupid sh1t was at the top of the heap on WHY it's dead.

Sell out for a non hyped event for 40,000? Nah..it was red hot but it wasn't pulling WM crowds like that. The Goldberg match announcement put everything over the top.

wrestlemania wasnt pulling these crowds back then.

again, nitro packed other domes as well.
and the goldberg/hogan match was announced just a week in advance.

I have no proof..Goldberg is one of the biggest draws ever. He don't need to come back because he made so much money..Nash was just a cog and a failure once he got the belt. The symbol of the end for WCW. I know u white kids on here worship that Kliq nonsense but they damn sure didn't outrank fukking Goldberg in 98. Dumbest line of thought all year.

wolfpac wasnt a kliq thing.

sure it had nash but it also had sting, luger, konnan, etc.

it was the hottest group in wrestling.

Nash was over and super hot in 98 but the idea that he was drawing more than Goldberg? BEFORE the title loss and fingerpoke? no way

and to the OP, if nash won on the screwjob, kept the belt, and they rebuilt the nWo WITHOUT the fingerpoke of doom, it works. There's a nashtale out there that the idea was to constantly screw goldberg so he's chasing the belt again as the nWo passes it around, which WOULD HAVE DRAWN MONEY

the timelines don't match though, and whether that was truly anybody's idea but Nash's, i don't know.

the original wolfpack was Nash, Hall, and Syxx, thats a 100% fact. Hogan got syxx fired and hall and nash used the name for the face stable so they could get more merchandise money because bischoff was stealing their ideas for merch money...
