The Warriors would've got blown out if it wasn't for KD dropping 40+ and bringing them back.

This is why they begged KD to come. For moments like this. If Steph is not scoring, that's it. If Klay isn't going off and having a historic night, its a wrap.
KD affects the game in so many ways on both ends. He literally keeps you in the game by himself. Imagine if KD wasn't on the team. Rockets would probably be up
2-1 right now.

The Warriors would lose in 5-6 games if KD isn't there. They recognize Stephs limits. He's an all time player but he is absolutely useless if he's not scoring. The most one sided superstar I've seen in ages. He can't carry a squad under pressure. He breaks under pressure.

You forgot something. The W's had a max slot open. You can't just take KD off the team and not replace him with another Max player. And Harrison Barnes had already declined the contract offer so he was gone anyway.

The Warriors signed KD with the Max slot that opened up in the summer of 2016. Initally the FO wanted to keep Harrison Barnes and use the rest of the space to offer someone like Lou Williams and get a go-to bench scorer.

Barnes declined the 4/40-something (I want to say 44 or 48) extension, which worked out for both parties because Dallas gave him 90+mil and it gave GS enough cap room to sign anybody.

Nobody thought KD would sign. It was a running joke in the fanbase that "We could sign KD!!" The plan was to go after Al Horford (Curry + Horford PnR :whew:) But KD took the meeting and that was that (the story about Dray calling him after GM 7 didn't come out until months later).

You didn't follow the team until KD signed and it pissed you off:ufdup:

And the Rockets would have lost if Harden didn’t get bailed out in the 4th quarter with 45 secs left down by 2 after Iggy hit that go ahead 3.. All 5 starters were in double figures again

Rockets would have lost if Harden didn’t score 40...

This hypothetical, doesn't take other factors. Making it kind of pointless.

Examples:
if KD is not the on team, the Warriors would have gotten another good player.

Who most likely would that been?

He might not be, but he is otherworldy in the eyes of the opposing team, clearly, since they guard him the way they do.

So who matters more:umad:

Mychal Thompson: Warriors Plan To Go Hard After Kevin Durant In 2016
May 1, 2015 1:45 PM

The Golden State Warriors plan on pursuing Kevin Durant when he becomes a free agent in 2016, according to Mychal Thompson.

Thompson is the father of Klay Thompson.

“I also heard it on good authority from a team that plays in the Bay Area that they’re going to go hard after Kevin Durant,” said Mychal Thompson.

With the salary cap going up, the Warriors may have enough space to sign Durant to a max contract if they make a few cap-cutting moves.

2 things.

1. It defo was us just fukking around breh. Of course the FO is going to go after him, they went after LeBron in 2014 and Dwight in 2012. The goddamn Warriors were not getting big time FA's like that. It was a shock that Iguodala signed with us when he did.

2. We needed to get rid of Bogut's salary in order to sign KD. Bogut had literally just broken his leg in the Finals and everybody in sports assumed it was an unspoken deal that no one would trade for Bogut and give us the cap room ala what teams had done to Miami by refusing to trade them a starting quality center.

Then Mark Cuban's dumb ass let us salary dump Bogut:heh:

Mark Cuban singlehandedly stole 2 more rings from LeBron:heh:

Do you not remember how stunned the entire sports world was when it was announced?

it was only surprising he actually joined after they beat him. Had GSW never faced OKC in the WCF or won 73 games when he joined nobody would of been surprised. There's other threads discussing this as far back as 2015 that there was mutual interest from both sides. I've been here since LeBron won his first ring. Trust, I followed.

Without KD the Warriors only have that one * chip

Must be nice having the luxury of a stacked team so the offensive production is damn near there every night
