Hes style is perfect for the warriors because he is surrounded by excellent scorers. Hes not going to be able to race up the floor in transition and dump it back to Reggie Jackson or whoever is at the point in Det. Hes not going to showcase his passing like he does in GS because no other team has this amount of shooters. Hes not going to be used in mismatches playing the center surrounded by shooters. He could probably still get you 10/8, but is that worth 14-15 mil a year? A lot of ppl are drooling over these guys not realizing that they are in a perfect system t. Its Marion all over again after he left the Suns and flopped in Miami/Tor. I hope for Green sake he realizes this and sticks around in GS for 10 per year. And hopefully they can keep both him and Barnes and move Lee's horrible deal
I understand exactly what he brings to the table realize that he won't have the caliber of shooters that he has now. But Stan's plan is to have more shooting on the team as well around Drummond, and having a Green means he would have a pf next to him with range out to the 3pt line who also is a great passer at his position and can handle the ball, not to mention his bball iq. Plus he's an A1 defender, is very versatile and won't have to defend centers since Drummond is there. His d and offensive versatility makes him much more compatible with Drummond than Monroe is. Add that to the fact that i really like his leadership qualities, which I think add extra value to the team. Again, I understand exactly what type of player we'd be getting in Green and was familiar with his game long before he was with GS.
Now regarding the salary, the truth is that 14-15 mil that he will be getting in a max deal will pretty much be the going rate for quality role players after the cap increase in 2 years, plus a team will have to overpay to attempt to lure him away from GS. So i don't think that amount is a huge stretch to consider for Green. Reality is a player's value should really be based on how he impacts that team, not some vacuum where only certain types of players are considered "max" worthy. Once again I understand what we'd be getting in Green and understand under the future financial climate of the league the salary won't be a huge stretch. I also think it's highly doubtful he leaves GS because I'm sure their front office realizes the same thing, which is why is not so preposterous for them to say they'll match any offer. Shortsighted fans don't realize this though, which is why you have so many tripping off the thought of Draymond being "max" player.
